Lucid opens 3rd Flatiron Restaurant at Chinook Centre
Two-storey, 9500 sq. ft. restaurant with indoor/outdoor dining patio will create 200 jobs.
Calgary, Alberta (February 02, 2010) – Following on the heels of the Lucid Group’s announcement
to introduce its premium-casual concept restaurant to Calgary’s trendy downtown Eau Claire
district (Centennial Place), the company is making another bold move. In December 2010, it will
open its third Flatiron Restaurant & Bar at the high profile and centrally located Chinook Centre.
“This is another important step in growing our Flatiron brand in western Canada,” says Adam Drybrough,
a partner with Lucid. “Chinook Centre is an important location for us. This Flatiron restaurant located
on two floors on the northeast corner of the mall fronting directly onto Macleod Trail will become our
flagship location. High traffic, high visibility and customer access from both the street and mall levels
make it a desirable location for showcasing our premium casual restaurant concept.”

Adam Drybrough, Partner, Lucid Group
Drybrough said the two-storey, 9500 sq. ft. restaurant with seating for 250 will feature an indoor/outdoor
rooftop-dining patio overlooking MacLeod Trail. He anticipated that Flatiron would be hiring approximately
200 full and part-time culinary, service and leadership partners as the restaurant revs up for a grand
opening in December. Drybrough explained that Flatiron provides industry leading training to ensure
each partner’s complete understanding of the chain’s premium casual concept.
The new restaurant will feature fresh cuisine items inspired by Flatiron’s Executive Chef Michelle Blanchett.
“With Michelle’s innovative culinary expertise, we will continue to offer new and exciting menu items that
have established Flatiron’s reputation for serving outstanding cuisine at an affordable cost.”
Drybrough added that Lucid remains committed to identifying additional real estate opportunities in
western Canada that will help grow its Flatiron and Kayne’s restaurant brands as well as a new gourmet
coffee concept that will be introduced shortly.
